Happy Birthday

Daniel has been fascinated with guns as long as we can remember.  He has had a BB gun and then an air rifle.  He has practiced with the air rifle for at least 2 years.  He is the guy that can name a gun he sees on TV and tell me all about it.  (Just like his Dad can do with cars and trains)
What better present than a lesson in gun safety and a trip to the rifle range?

Here he is shooting his Granddad's (David's Dad, John Gibson) Marlin 57M Micro Groove .22 Magnum Rifle at 25 yards.  David learned to shoot about 37 years ago using this same gun.  Both Dads were very impressed with his marksmanship. David says 'he appears to be a natural'.  I guess that all of that practice with his .177 caliber Daisy Powerline 880 Air Rifle has paid off!
 He and his Grandpa, (my Dad) and David went and shot for an hour after viewing a mandatory safety video.

Saturday, September 3rd, we had both sets of Grand Parents (John and Grace  and Jack and Judy) over for grilled hamburgers and french fries, cake and ice cream or peach pie.

Happy Birthday Daniel

Today my first born is 14. It is hard to believe  accept.  Aas I hugged him and wished him happy birthday, I got so choked up.  He has grown and changed so much from the end of school last year to now.  He is becoming a fine young man.

He stands head and shoulders above me.  I didn't realize how tall he really was until one day I asked him to get something out of the the top kitchen cabinet for me.  He walked over and reached up, didn't even stretch, and handed me the item.  At that point it hit me how tall he actually is.  He is just turned 14 and pushing 6 feet tall.

The pictures are from his actual birthday.  I wish I had photos in the pc from each year.  Maybe I can get that done soon , for both children.

Happy Birthday to.... Me!

In keeping with tradition I will post about my birthday. I turned 45 this past Thursday. As usual David took the day off and as usual, (I'm not complaining) since he's in the middle of buying all the vehicles for his company, he ended up doing a lot of work from home.

In an unusual way that was good. The kids and I got to see how dedicated to doing his best he is. How much he cares about the details of the job and how he goes the extra mile to get the job done.

So, how did we celebrate?

• I got my drivers license renewed.



• I got a new 'Stir Crazy' popcorn popper



• I got a new synch cradle for my Palm Zire 71 that friends gave me



• I got the 3rd Sovereign Grace songbook
• I got 'Sense & Sensibility' on DVD (much to the chagrin of the males in the house)
• I got $$ from my in-laws and I ordered yarn today from knitpicks. I'm going to make a pair of felted slippers and a dressy short sleeved sweater.
• I got to spend the day with my family and even though David was working, he was home and that made the day very special.

So 'Happy Birthday to Me, and I don't feel a day older, but hopefully I AM becoming wiser

Happy Birthday Daniel

WOW, Daniel is 13. He was a Labor Day baby in 1996. Our pastor at the time stopped by the hospital on the way out of town to pray with us. Fortunately Daniel had made his entrance by then!

It's hard to believe that only thirteen years ago he was a tiny 7# infant and now he is becoming a young man. (No 'teenagers' allowed in the Gibson household, only young men and ladies).

To celebrate we spent the day with Dad, and went bowling. I think it will soon become a favorite pasttime. We went to Fryes Lake Lanes, where if you go at the right time, (Thursday after 1pm) Eddie will probably be there, and if you ask he will give you tips on improving your game. Eddie is one of those guys who loves the game and wants to see young people do well form the start.

Hopefully the kiddos and I will be able to bowl at least a couple of times a month during the day and David will be able to join us on his days off.

Been A While

Well, today is the first day in at least 4 weeks that I've been headache free for most of the day. It's 4pm now and a little one is coming on, but hopefully can be controlled with aspirin.

Last week was my 44th birthday. But, Isabelle (age 5) told me I looked 21. Now I know that at 5 she hasn't completely comprehended the significance of numbers, but what she said made me smile.

My sweeties, David, and kiddos, like to make me a cake on my birthday. It's always fun to sit back and listen to them as they work together. Most years I chose a new recipe from the Hershey's website. This year I was craving a simple white cake from a mix. So much to their dismay, that's what they made me. It was just what I wanted.

They also fed my crochet addiction. Two hand carved hooks and a nostepinne made by a friends husband. You must check out his work at http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5663156.

I'm well on my way to getting it done and might be able to post pics when I finish.

We also had to completely rebuild our main pc after being hit by a "drive-by" virus. It took David and me a week of working on it here and there to get it all back and online. BUT in the process both kids have decided they want to learn top build their own pc. So...that is another project in the wings.


School is going well, I see improvement every day. Tho' we are behind the "schedule", we are able to stop to smell the roses, or watch the backhoe as the case may be. Even though my kids are 10 & 12, they still love to watch the heavy equipment working. I'm so glad that we are free to teach our children in freedom and able to follow their interests. It still amazes me what they know, when I know I haven't taught them that.

Sarah's 10th Birthday

We celebrated Sarah's 10th birthday this past Sunday. We had both sets of grandparents, 8 kids plus our 2, 2 sets of parents and 2 single gals, for a total of 20 people!

She had a great time playing dodge ball, having a super- soaker fight, icing cupcakes, watching "Pinky and the Brain".

We started after church with lunch around 1 and had folks here until 8. Most of them left by 5, but we had also offered to "babysit" one families kids so they could have a church meeting.

It was a tiring, busy, fun day. After all, 10 is special, it's the first time you have 2 digits in your age.


Thanks to Karl for manning the grill, I kept forgetting and the dogs would've been burnt.
